Driving in Seville and the surrounding area is relatively straightforward, although traffic can be heavier on the main access roads and at certain times of day. In the historic centre, you will find narrow streets, pedestrian areas and restricted-access zones, so it is important to pay attention to road signs and check in advance where you are allowed to drive and park.
Speed limits depend on the type of road. In the city, many streets have a 30 km/h limit, although this may be 20 km/h on roads where the carriageway and pavement are at the same level, or 50 km/h on avenues with two or more lanes in each direction. On conventional roads, the general speed limit for cars is 90 km/h, while on motorways and dual carriageways it can reach 120 km/h. Always follow the specific signs for each section of road.
Roundabouts are common both in Seville and in the surrounding towns. Vehicles already on the roundabout have priority. Use your indicators when changing lanes and exiting, and make sure you move into the appropriate lane well in advance.
