Cheap car hire at Minorca Airport
Minorca Airport is the island’s main arrival point and having a car ready means you can get moving without delay. Instead of waiting for shuttles or planning around fixed routes, you simply walk out, pick up your vehicle, and go.
Goldcar operates directly from the airport and offers a wide mix of cars for different types of travellers. Short trip? A compact model keeps things simple. Longer stay with luggage or beach gear? Family cars and SUVs offer more room. Electric and hybrid vehicles are also part of the fleet.
Every car is checked before handover. If you book online, prices are shown in full, so you know what to expect. Reserving early usually means a better selection and a shorter wait at the terminal. Once at the counter, it’s a quick check of your documents, then a short walk to the car park where your vehicle is ready.

Where to collect your car at Minorca Airport
Goldcar’s rental desk is inside the terminal at Minorca Airport (MAH), right by the arrivals area on the ground floor. As soon as you collect your luggage, you can head straight to the counter.
Staff will check your documents and booking details. Once confirmed, you’ll receive your keys and directions to the car park. Goldcar vehicles are based in the P1 area, just outside the terminal. It takes less than five minutes on foot.
Returning the car works the same way. Look for “rent a car returns” signs as you drive back to the airport. You’ll leave the car in the same area, drop off the keys, and walk into departures.
Discover Minorca and nearby destinations by car
A hire car gives you access to parts of Minorca that are harder to reach by public transport. The island isn’t large, but its most appealing places are spread out — and bus times don’t always match up with what you want to do.
Mahón, the capital, is about ten minutes from the airport. The old centre and harbour area are good places to stop for lunch or a walk. If you keep going west, you’ll reach Ciutadella in under an hour. It’s a much older city with narrow streets and a quieter pace.
In the north, Fornells is a small fishing village known for seafood and calm waters. It’s ideal for a day trip and reachable by car in about 40 minutes. On the way, you’ll pass through Es Mercadal, where you can stop for local cheese or pastries. For views across the island, consider driving up Monte Toro which is the highest point in Minorca. The road is winding but paved, and the summit offers a full view of the coastline.
To the south, Binibeca is a whitewashed village that’s become popular for photos and short visits. It's about 20 minutes from the airport and makes a relaxed afternoon outing. Parking is limited in high season, but it’s one of the few places where early evening is actually quieter than midday.
The best-known beaches (Cala Macarella, Cala en Turqueta, Son Bou) aren’t served directly by public lines. With a car, you can drive to the nearest car park and walk from there.
