Car Hire Madrid Airport Spain

Cheap car hire at Madrid Airport

Madrid Airport is about 12 kilometres from the city centre, with direct access to the A-2 and M-40, making it one of the more simple places to collect a hire car. Picking up a vehicle here allows you to step away from fixed transport routes and move on without the usual airport delays.
Goldcar keeps a varied selection of vehicles on-site. Compact models are suited to shorter urban journeys. Larger cars like estates and SUVs tend to be more practical for groups or longer drives. If you’re looking to reduce fuel use, electric and hybrid options are also available. Each car is checked and cleaned before pick-up.
Booking ahead online gives you a clearer idea of what’s available and what the rental will cost. The process shows all charges in full. After you land, go to the Goldcar desk, confirm your details, and collect the keys. The car park is a short walk from the terminal.

Where to collect your car at Madrid Airport

When you arrive, signs inside the terminal will lead you to the car hire area. Goldcar has a desk close to the arrivals section, so there’s no need to leave the building or arrange extra transport.
At the desk, your documents will be reviewed and your booking confirmed. From there, it’s a short walk to the car park where your vehicle will be waiting. Directions are clear and the walk is direct.
When returning the car, look for signs marked for rental returns. These lead you to a drop-off zone near the terminal. Once you’ve handed back the keys, you can move on without much delay.

Discover Madrid and nearby destinations by car

Having a car makes it easier to reach places that don’t sit on train lines or coach routes. Madrid has its fair share of museums and green spaces, but many visitors choose to drive further out.
El Escorial is about an hour north by road. Set against the edge of the mountains, it’s home to a large monastery and former royal residence. The route is easy to access, and there’s parking close to the main entrance. South of Madrid, Aranjuez offers wide gardens, tree-lined streets, and buildings that once served as summer retreats for Spanish royalty.
Toledo, just over an hour away, sits on a hill above the Tagus River. Drivers tend to park just outside the old quarter and walk in. The city is known for its blend of cultural influences and compact historic core. Segovia is another destination within reach. It’s best known for its Roman aqueduct and castle-like cathedral. The drive there passes through the Sierra de Guadarrama and takes just under 90 minutes.
A hire car also makes shorter side trips easier. You can stop at smaller towns along the way, visit family-run restaurants, or travel outside usual hours. For those with more time, routes heading towards the countryside in Castilla-La Mancha offer a quieter view of central Spain.
