Getaway to the Barranc de l´Encantada

It has been a while since I wrote about a little weekend getaway, so today we are going to start up again. This weekends getaway deals with a visit to the Barranc de l´Encantada, a gorgeous site close to the Planes town, in the province of Alicante.

For those of you who have just arrived to the province, you know the ideal thing is to rent a cheap car at the airport of Alicante with Goldcar and enjoy. Once you have the vehicle that best adapts to your circumstances, you could go on your way following this map to get to Planes.

Once you arrive in Planes, you will begin to enjoy all the sites right away, the best thing to do is ask a local, because there are several ways to get to Barranc de l´Encantada, all them a great way to go.

During the travel there, you will be able to enjoy the great sites such the “El Salt” (The Jump), a point off a ravine where there is a vertical cut in the rocks from which the water waits a six or seven meter fall.

A little up ahead, we find small press or the Moli de l´Endantada (a small mill in ruins). Just after the mill, the ravine passes by an awesome cut of the rock, where you can go no further.

From there on, you can head up or down abandoning the path. The depth of the ravine is more that 100 meters with walls the are practically vertical. An exciting trip that can´t be missed.

A paradise called the Garden of the Saints of Penaguila

jardin_santos_penaguila.jpg

Today I recommend a small jewel to visit when you have some free time. I’m talking about the Garden of the Saints of Penaguila, a small town in the interior of the province of Alicante.

First of all you will need the appropriate vehicle for your trip. I recommend renting a car from Goldcar at the Airport of Alicante or in any of its offices in the province of Alicante.

The Garden of the Saints is integrated in a recreational ranch acquired by the City Hall of Penaguila in 1987.

It is located in the northeast part of the urban city and you get there by either a small pathway with a ravine close to Aladrach or by a detour by highway CV-3313 following the rural signs.

The garden contains samples of indigenous and foreign species that create an idyllic and labyrinthine image of vegetation, beautiful statues and water games. Excitement for the senses, perfectly designed so you could leave the stress behind right after crossing the threshold of the botanical garden.

Secular trees, plants, shrubs of the area, wonderful flowerbeds, splendid rocky sets, and mythological caves loaded with evocations, are some of the many attractions along the labyrinth.

You can view the path to this wonder here at Google Maps.

Rent a car t the airport of Alicante with Goldcar and visit La Fira de Tots Sants de Cocetaina

fira-cocentaina.jpg

If you happen to be in the Alicante area this weekend I recommend a great outing to La Fira de Tots Sants de Cocentaina which will be celebrated between the 1st and 4th of November.

It is very easy; the town is less than an hour away from the airport, where you can rent a car from Goldcar.

You simply have to go from the airport north of the province and take the Alcoy exit, and once you get to Alcoy follow the N-30 until you get to Cocentaina.

This event is more than 650 years old and will exhibit products of more than 38,6 million euros.

The streets of Cocentaina will be converted in a great market in which you will be able to find almost everything in a 90,000 square meter exhibition hall.

Most of the exhibition hall, about 32,000 of the sq meters will be occupied by the agricultural machinery and autos.

The other ítems you will be able to see in this fain are diverse products such as; children attractions, medieval market, motorcycles, alternative energies, garden supplies and much more.

Don’t forget to taste all the local foods, which will delight you.

A little relax and nature in the coast of Aguilas

aguilas.jpg

Where do you plan on escaping to this weekend? You still don’t know? I recommend the coast of Aguilas. It is very easy to rent a car at the airport of Murcia with Goldcar and you are there. This murcian locality offers numerous alternatives for rural and nature tourism, because it conserves unique sights in which you will find the unexpected.

An alternative route can be realized from Calarreona. By its shore, and after passing through the camping, you pass through a small succession of hills ascending until you reach the cliffs, where you will have a panoramic view of the four coves.

After descending to the next cove you will arrive at the spectacular cove of Calacerrada, that is born from the sea and holds its dark gold boards in a proud way. From the top you could see the caves built in the rocks on the feet of the sea.

An incomparable garden in the center of Mallorca

jardines_de_alfabia.jpg

Today we are going to recommend a beautiful place located in center of the island of Mallorca, perfect for renting a car and getting there in a jiffy. The place I’m talking about is the Alfabia Gardens, which are located in Km 17 of the Palma Sóller highway. It is said that this spot belonged to a rich Arab that is why the water is an element marks the distribution of this idyllic place and ideal to disconnect from the world noise. Waterfalls, fountains and a “water game” give us a sensation of wellbeing.

Between the vegetation we find lemons, orange, almonds, jasmines and many other species typical of this jewel of the Mediterranean. Other elements characteristics are the rocks.

The entrance to the gardens is found through the Sóller tunnel and the Ses Porxeres restaurant has a special parking place for cars.
