It has been a while since I wrote about a little weekend getaway, so today we are going to start up again. This weekends getaway deals with a visit to the Barranc de l´Encantada, a gorgeous site close to the Planes town, in the province of Alicante.

Once you arrive in Planes, you will begin to enjoy all the sites right away, the best thing to do is ask a local, because there are several ways to get to Barranc de l´Encantada, all them a great way to go.

During the travel there, you will be able to enjoy the great sites such the “El Salt” (The Jump), a point off a ravine where there is a vertical cut in the rocks from which the water waits a six or seven meter fall.

A little up ahead, we find small press or the Moli de l´Endantada (a small mill in ruins). Just after the mill, the ravine passes by an awesome cut of the rock, where you can go no further.

From there on, you can head up or down abandoning the path. The depth of the ravine is more that 100 meters with walls the are practically vertical. An exciting trip that can´t be missed.

The El Altet Alicante airport is expecting a nine percent growth in the number or passengers in 2008, making that up to ten million travellers. The increase in passengers that will pass through the Alicante airport is due primarily to the recent installation of Ryanair.

The low budget airline Vueling offers the possibility of getting to know the province of Alicante from Amsterdam offering a total of 15 flights a month.

The airport of Alicante could be a great start to visit one of the most tourist provinces of Spain.

The Alicante airport El Altet continues to increase the number of flights and destinations. Back in June we announce the new routes to Estocolmo, and now Ryanair will count with one new route to Bremen starting the 29^th of October.

This makes 18 the new number of routes that will operate from this airport. Ryanair chose Alicante as its new base of operations just a few weeks back.

To celebrate the inauguration of these new flights, Ryanair is offering fares of only 10 euros each way (taxes included). To accommodate these new routes, Ryanair will suspend its services from Murcia to Bremen the end of October.

The Altet airport in Alicante will have a new destination starting this October 2007. The low cost airlines Ryanair has announced a new route between the Alicante and Stockholm airport. The ticket sales have already begun although the flights will not take place until the 10^th of October when Ryanair will place its Boeing 737-800 planes in Stockholm.

At 18 euros a ticket, it’s a steal, I plan to reserve tickets right away before the price goes up.

 Alicante  is slowly becoming one with the most visitors in Spain. It is an excellent point of departure to get to know other cities, aside from being a very interesting city itself.  Arriving to Alicante and renting a car is easy and from there you can go on your journey to find the sun, beach and great food. A fun time always awaits you in Alicante and from here you know you can get to almost anywhere.
