A few months a go we talked about a Volvo system to increase road security .  Well, now the Volvo has introduced a new gadget called Alcoguard that could detect if a driver has surpass the alcohol limit and stops the car from starting. All new innovations to increase road security.This ingenious new product will be available starting next year, and promises to be a great security for all. The driver will need to blow into a tube in order for the car to start and Volvo states they have certain kind of sensors that will detect if the air being blown is of an external factor.

The first models that will incorporate the Alcoguard as an extra option will be the S80, V70 and XC70, starting in the beginning of 2008. Volvo is expecting to sell at least 2,000 units in its first year of life. A big applause for this genius innovation please.

A few months a go I told you about  Paul Moller the creator of a flying machine type car. Well, it seems that this Canadian has strong competition. An Israeli company called Urban Aeronautics has announced that its X-Hawk will be ready in 2009.

This flying car will reach 140 km/hr and will be able to fly to an altitude of 4,000 meters. The objective of Urban Aeronautics is that its vehicle could be used as a taxi or emergency vehicle, including as a transportation vehicle.

Its creator Rafi Yoeli, assures that this invention will be ale to take off and land vertically, which will not cause any danger in urban territory of fields.

The city of Valencia will welcome the Historic Vehicle Festival called “Motorepoc 2007”  the 5^th through the 7^th of October. This event will exhibit cardboard-rock automobile models as well as a showing of some of the Ford, Aston Martin y Harley Davidson brands.

This will be the sixteenth edition for this car show that will also hold an exclusive Ford exposition called “More than 100 years of history” and another from Harley Davidson denominated “Retrospective 1929 to 1975”. 

The traditional selection of emblematic vehicles, an exhibition of the special Club Aston Martin  and Lotus, and samples of the Club Seat 600 from the  Comunitat Valenciana and the  Citroën 2CV friends association as well as the  ‘El Paraguas’ will also be part of this festival.

The exhibition of del Renault 4-4 friend club of Spain and the La Ribera will complete the program for this exhibition, in which you will also be able to see collectors, classic vehicles, games, miniature, clothing, books and all the maintenance and restoration parts you need.

Investigators of the University Miguel Hernández (UMH) of Elche work on the development of mobile systems of communication between cars that will allow the detection in an autonomous way if the cars close to each other pose a problem and warn the drivers to avoid accidents.The objective of this investigation is to improve road security by allowing the mobile communication to also warn drivers about traffic or other road issues.

These systems will allow the interchange of information regarding the vehicle position, speed, acceleration, direction, among others, in that way detecting if there is any danger in the position of the cars.

In case of risk, the vehicle will advise the driver so that he may react and avoid a possible traffic accident.
